Seven Little Photos, by Onat Kutlar

A slice of a melon dinghy
Resting on a desolate shore
Water passing by the leg of the table

The wind that caresses your bare breast
Embraces my face against the vapored goblet
With a scent of bitter orange

The afternoon sun of a window pan
Knocks on the ornate window railing
To scare the birds inside away

"Idiot", he says, "you'll get burnt there"
Thales calls upon his donkey to come to the shade
A little girl at the foot of an olive tree

Two horse mackerel on a copper grill
Secretly wink at the cats
Laurel trees fluff up their leaves

The fishermen cast a net to the purple stars
That brighten the seabed of the languid water
And the night casts a net to them as well

When the moon shows up, everyone will take
the one they love, to their bed on floor
The Earth only changes when you make love
